A Extol Case Study
A.D. Sutton & Sons is a family-owned New York City manufacturer and importer of backpacks and baby accessories that supplies major U.S. and Canadian retailers, including Walmart where it acts as a Category Manager. The company faced growing supply-chain complexity: its JD Edwards ERP and EXTOL EDI software were unused, mapping relied on a programmer, onboarding was slow, and charge-backs from data errors were severe (about $350,000 in 2001).
The company implemented EXTOL’s EDI Integrator alongside JD Edwards, trained internal staff to do mapping, and moved to proactive data synchronization via 1SYNC/GDSN. Onboarding new partners now takes about a day, the EDI program scaled from 7 to over 100 trading partners with 22 document types, enabled advanced ASNs for multi‑PO cartons, and cut charge-backs to roughly $4,000 (≈99% reduction), improving compliance and partner relationships.
