Case Study: Birmingham Metropolitan College achieves smarter campus communications with Exterity

A Exterity Case Study

Preview of the Birmingham Metropolitan University Case Study

Using New Technology to Inspire and Engage Students

Birmingham Metropolitan College, a large further-education institution in the centre of Birmingham teaching over 7,000 students, wanted a better way to share information across campus. Its old notice boards were clumsy and unreliable, and staff struggled to ensure students actually saw important updates. The college turned to Exterity for an IP video and digital signage solution that could work with its existing network.

Exterity, working with education partner RM, deployed a network-based system that streams media to plasma screens in each of the college’s nine departments. The result was a campus-wide replacement for notice boards with electronic information points that departments can manage themselves, displaying videos, exam results, course changes and other relevant content. Exterity’s solution was installed in just a couple of days with minimal disruption, and it helped the college present a smarter, more professional, and more innovative image.
