The University of Surrey Offers State-of-the-art Live Streaming of Highly-specialised Course Material With Exterity Ip Video Solution

The University of Surrey’s School of Veterinary Medicine needed a way to give students better access to highly specialised dissection lectures and course material in a competitive higher-education environment. Working with Exterity, the university looked to extend its existing IP video capabilities to support live and recorded learning content for veterinary students.

Exterity implemented a large-scale IP video system using AvediaServer, AvediaStream encoders and AvediaPlayer receivers, with nine encoders and more than 12 screens across the school. The solution streamed live dissections to two lecture theatres for up to 250 students and recorded sessions for later viewing, improving safe access to otherwise difficult-to-see material. The university now plans to expand the system further across campus with more video-on-demand content.
