The British Horseracing Authority Keeps an Eye on Live Horseracing Throughout Britain With IPTV Technology

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA), the independent governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Britain, needed a better way to monitor and analyse live racing and betting TV channels across more than 60 racecourses. When it moved to new central London premises, BHA wanted a future-ready, cost-efficient system to support integrity, operational, and public relations work while reducing reliance on its old analogue setup. Exterity’s IPTV solution was selected to help meet those needs.

Exterity implemented an IP-based video system using the BHA’s existing LAN to deliver live and recorded racing coverage to desktops and 32 LCD screens via AvediaPlayer Receivers, with AvediaStream gateways/encoders and AvediaServer record/VoD platforms handling channel distribution and automatic recording. The result was faster access to footage for integrity and disciplinary teams, easier review of incidents, improved internal communications, and significantly lower hardware, support, and maintenance requirements compared with the previous VHS-based system.
