Spanish Airport Authorities Modernize Communications Systems With Exterity IPTV Solution

AENA, the Spanish Airport Authorities, needed to modernize terminal communication systems across airports including Malaga, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante. To do this, they selected Exterity’s integrated IPTV and digital signage solution to deliver live TV and signage over the existing LAN in a scalable, easy-to-upgrade way.

Exterity implemented an IP video architecture using AvediaStream gateways, AvediaPlayer receivers and an AvediaServer, plus a digital signage setup that converted signage output into an IP channel for distribution across terminal screens. The result was a more flexible and cost-effective system that improved arrivals and departures information and helped airport shops, restaurants and bars promote services through commercial TV and scheduled content, while allowing straightforward upgrades from SD to HD with minimal downtime.
