RTL Updates Old Analog System With a Powerful Exterity Digital IPTV Solution

RTL needed to replace its outdated analog CAI system at its Hilversum facility with a modern, flexible, and scalable IP video solution. The company wanted better image quality and an easier way to distribute multiple TV channels and live content across its editorial floors and workplaces, so it turned to Exterity IPTV technology through its system integrator, HTC International.

Exterity implemented an IPTV solution using RTL’s existing LAN infrastructure, including multicast distribution and AvediaServer/AvediaPlayer receivers, while keeping corporate and MCR content separated via VLAN tagging. The result was HD-quality live content available to the right users on demand, with improved access to news channels and lower bandwidth usage; Exterity’s scalable design also made future expansion easier.
