Exterity IPTV System Entertains Miners in Remote Mauritanian Desert

Kinross Tasiast, a remote gold mine camp in the Mauritanian desert, needed a modern TV distribution system to improve entertainment for workers and support morale. The company chose Exterity to replace its analogue television setup with a scalable IPTV solution that could deliver multiple channels and integrate digital signage across the camp.

Exterity implemented an IPTV system built around AvediaServer, satellite TV gateways, receiver set-top boxes, and the Artio Portal, distributing more than 60 international channels to up to 1,250 monitors. The solution also added centrally managed digital signage and an internal information channel, improving service quality, flexibility, and scalability while enabling phased deployment and later expansion to additional set-top boxes without disruption.
