Exterity IPTV Solution Streams Stage Action to Multiple Locations to Share the Excitement of Rehearsals and Live Performances, and Build Employee Enthusiasm

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) needed a way to keep its administrative staff connected to the activity happening in the main theatre after moving offices to Chapel Lane, 500 metres away. To maintain the ensemble feel across multiple buildings, the company wanted to stream rehearsals and live performances with high-quality audio and video. Exterity provided an IPTV solution to meet this challenge.

Exterity implemented an end-to-end IPTV system using an AvediaStream Encoder to capture live stage video and AvediaPlayer Receivers to display it on eight LCD screens throughout the Chapel Lane offices. The solution delivered broadcast-quality pictures over the corporate network, made efficient use of bandwidth, and was designed to scale easily to more users and sources, with future plans to extend viewing to staff PCs and laptops.
