Exterity IP Video Solution Delivers State-of-the-art Content Streaming for Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, one of the world’s most acoustically advanced concert venues, needed a highly flexible video and signage system to support a wide range of performances and content sources. The venue had to manage up to 10 SDI camera signals, CCTV streams, live video for backstage monitoring, dynamic signage for pre-show and intermission periods, and integration with existing coax cabling in part of the building. Exterity was selected for its reliable IPTV platform and open standards approach, working with PMS’s PerfectShow digital signage software.

Exterity delivered an IP video solution built around AvediaServer, AvediaPlayer Receivers, AvediaStream Encoders, Transcoders and Gateways, plus ArtioPortal middleware, to manage and distribute content across the venue. The system now delivers live stage footage, TV channels, CCTV, schedules and advertising to more than 120 displays, with dynamic rights management and DVB-C QAM conversion for the legacy coax network. The result is a single, intuitive interface for most tasks, simpler content management across front-of-house and backstage areas, and improved support for stage managers and live event operations.
