Exterity IP Video Extends Fan Engagement at the Open

The Open, the world’s oldest and most international golf championship, needed a reliable way to deliver live video and digital signage across its hospitality villages, media areas, and nearby hotels as the event grew in scale. Working with Exterity and C3i Group, the tournament required a robust IP video solution that could support hundreds of screens, secure premium broadcast content, and enhance the fan experience around the course.

Exterity provided a scalable IP video and digital signage system built on the site’s fibre network, using AvediaServer, AvediaStream encoders, media players, and HDCP Pro to centrally manage and securely distribute live feeds to more than 600 screens. The solution reduced video latency to under 300ms, enabled synchronized real-time viewing, supported broadcast and safety messaging, and extended coverage to mobile devices and adjoining hotels, helping fans stay immersed in the action throughout the event.
