North Star, a housing association in the North of England, needed to modernise its ageing IT as it prepared for a merger and faced growing legal, compliance, and cyber security demands. Its existing virtual desktop environment was slow and hard to manage, limiting remote working and communication, so it turned to Exponential-e for help.

Exponential-e migrated North Star to a UK-based virtual data centre with full server replication to a second site, connected all eight locations with a high-performance WAN, and replaced the old setup with fully managed Citrix Virtual Desktops alongside managed security monitoring. The result was a more secure, resilient, and scalable cloud-based infrastructure that improved staff and resident communications across voice, chat, telephony, and email, supported remote working during lockdown, and created a strong foundation for North Star’s cloud-first strategy.
