Channel 4 needed a higher-capacity broadcast network to support the relaunch and rapid growth of its 4oD on-demand service, including the daily distribution of large volumes of non-linear programming and a newly automated content workflow. Exponential-e was chosen to help replace manual, tape-based transfer processes with a reliable network solution for delivering media to multiple platforms and partners.

Exponential-e upgraded Channel 4’s existing network to a resilient 1Gbps service with low latency, low jitter, no packet loss and 99.99% service levels, plus fail-over backup capability. The new setup enabled automated, high-speed delivery of encoded video, metadata and other assets, reduced reliance on couriers and physical media, improved operational efficiency, and helped Channel 4 scale 4oD to 28 million monthly video views and 7.6 million unique users.
