Fresno Unified School District raises math fact fluency to 56.1% with ExploreLearning Reflex

Fresno Unified School District, a large and diverse district in California, faced a challenge with a significant number of its students struggling to master basic math facts. K-6 Elementary Math Manager Lawrence Olagunju sought an adaptive, game-based solution to help students practice effectively and have fun, leading the district to ExploreLearning Reflex.

ExploreLearning implemented Reflex, a game-based program that builds math fact fluency adaptively. The solution was first piloted in a summer program and then adopted district-wide. The measurable results showed an improvement in end-of-year fluency from 53.6% to 56.1%, with further growth expected. ExploreLearning's Reflex also helped reduce math anxiety, create a growth mindset, and became a favorite activity for students, who are encouraged to use the program both in school and at home.
