University of Toronto Stays on Course with Blue Course Evaluations

The University of Toronto, with about 80,000 students across three campuses and partner sites, needed a more flexible way to handle course evaluations in a highly complex academic environment. It moved from paper to online evaluations as part of a new Course Evaluation Framework and selected Explorance and its Blue course evaluations platform to meet the university’s varied departmental needs.

Explorance configured customizable forms, reporting, Blackboard integration, response-rate monitoring, and automated reminders to support a phased rollout across the university. The university said around 70 percent of 10,000 surveyed students preferred the online approach over paper, and it reported that response rates had not shown a significant decline. Faculty and administrators also received detailed summary, comparative, and qualitative reports to support teaching review and development.
