The American University in Cairo Teaching Quality with Improved Evaluation and Documentation Processes

The American University in Cairo, based in Cairo, Egypt, needed a more flexible way to support a broader teaching quality initiative. After a 2017 task force reviewed undergraduate education, the university found its homegrown course evaluation system was too rigid to handle customized questionnaires, peer review, detailed reporting, and a more comprehensive evaluation process.

The American University in Cairo implemented Blue from Explorance in 2018 and launched the new system in 2019. With Explorance, response rates increased from 41.8% to 51.4%, the university reduced system maintenance requirements significantly, and faculty and administrators gained timelier reports with both qualitative and quantitative data.
