Blue supports University of Johannesburg’s drive for evidence-based decision making

The University of Johannesburg needed a new course evaluation system to support its strategy of improving student success through evidence-based decision making. Its paper-based process was ad hoc and cumbersome, the scanners were nearing the end of their life, and the university needed a solution that could handle a steady increase in evaluation volume. The university selected Blue by Explorance for course evaluation software.

Explorance implemented Blue as a semi-automated system fully integrated with Blackboard, helping the university manage high volumes of evaluations and generate meaningful data. The university ran all undergraduate evaluations online for the first time, covering 1,043 modules, 1,388 academics, and more than 40,000 students, with over 1,000 reports released. Explorance also enabled automated evidence-driven reporting for individual lecturers and aggregated reporting across departments, schools, faculties, and the university.
