360-degree Feedback Reviews at the International Committee of the Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross, based in Geneva, wanted to strengthen how it assessed senior leaders and managers as part of a new leadership and management framework. The organization also wanted to address employees’ request to assess DE&I capacity in their managers, but its internal systems could not support a large-scale automated 360-degree review.

Explorance was appointed in May 2020 to provide Blue, The People Insight Platform, including 360-degree feedback survey software and consulting support. The ICRC first ran the surveys in 2021 and again in 2022 in four languages, reaching 96% engagement, and found that 50% of managers and their managers were not aligned in their competencies. The organization said 89% of surveyed leaders and managers would continue with 360-degree reviews.
