A Expleo Case Study
The Clinatec Endowment Fund, in partnership with CEA and CHU Grenoble, sought to develop a brain-computer interface to help quadriplegic patients regain mobility. A significant challenge was navigating the complex technical and regulatory hurdles required to get approval for implanting a neuroprosthesis and conducting clinical trials. They partnered with Expleo for its engineering expertise and reliability practices to meet these challenges.
Expleo provided skills sponsorship, coordinating an agile team to deliver a solution. This included work on mechatronic packaging, electronic hardware, test benches, embedded software, and the crucial regulatory documentation. The outcome was that a quadriplegic patient successfully controlled an exoskeleton with his mind. Expleo also delivered an optimized firmware update to double the implant's measurement resolution, significantly improving the decoding of brain signals for movement.
