A natural language-based data analysis tool to minimise non-conformities

A major European aircraft manufacturer faced the challenge of minimizing the significant costs and production delays caused by a high volume of non-conformities (NCs) on its assembly lines. To improve its operational processes, the manufacturer engaged the vendor Expleo to address this issue with a data science solution.

Expleo developed a natural language processing tool using Python and Apache Spark to automatically identify correlations between detected non-conformities and the resolution plans (PPS) deployed. This solution provided the customer with better monitoring of the effectiveness of their methods, making the search for and resolution of defects more intelligent, faster, and more precise. The Expleo tool is currently being tested, with initial results already showing encouraging improvements in functionality that were not previously feasible manually.
