Oldham County School - Customer Case Study

Oldham County Schools, based in La Grange, Kentucky and serving over 12,000 students, faced a significant challenge in supporting middle school students with severe reading deficits who were often three or more grade levels behind. Special education teacher Jennifer Hallas reported that these students experienced anxiety about reading aloud, relied on human readers that required pull-outs, and were frequently excluded from grade-level classroom activities. The district addressed this challenge by adopting the Explain Everything app.

Explain Everything enabled Hallas to create audio-enabled lesson videos and assessments that provide required IEP accommodations, allowing students to access grade-level text and complete formative and summative tasks independently while remaining fully included in the co-teaching setting. The district’s move to a single app reduced setup time, lowered the learning curve for staff, and leveraged cloud integrations (OneDrive, Google), resulting in transformed instruction, greater student engagement, and more time for targeted, specially designed instruction — outcomes driven by Explain Everything.
