Adopts Best-of-Breed DocuTAP EMR to Improve Patient Management

Owl Now Urgent Care, a two-location, physician-owned urgent care in the Tampa area serving about 160 patients per day, faced inefficient one-size-fits-all EMRs that forced paper workarounds, double data entry, and poor integration across registration, charts, and billing. To address these workflow and customization gaps, the clinic selected Experity’s DocuTAP EMR and Practice Management platform in 2014.

Experity implemented DocuTAP as an integrated, urgent-care–specific EMR/PM with expedited training and configurable templates; staff were comfortable using the system by midday and both clinics launched simultaneously. Within five days wait times dropped from 30 to 10 minutes and average door-to-door time fell from 90 to 60 minutes (with a record 20-minute day); clinicians can document visits in 3–5 minutes and finalize 60 charts within 15 minutes after close. Intake forms were reduced from five pages to one, billing is directly linked to charts, and these efficiencies are producing substantial staffing and cost savings—backed by Experity’s ongoing support and a dedicated Client Success Manager.
