IDEO.org, a mission-driven design organization tackling poverty, struggled with a chaotic, manual expense system as staff traveled globally and funding came from multiple donors. Expensify delivered an intuitive mobile app with SmartScan and offline receipt capture, seamless QuickBooks integration, fund accounting and per diem automation, and next-day ACH reimbursements that motivated timely reporting. The change eliminated manual data entry and chasing receipts, saved employees about half a day per report and the accountant roughly one day a month, and enabled IDEO.org to close books faster while maintaining donor-level financial transparency.
