A large global apparel and accessories retailer serving more than 1,000 stores across 13 countries needed a faster way to move product from factories to stores. Facing pressure to beat competitors to market and improve visibility across shipments, the retailer worked with Expeditors on a final mile air and order management solution to streamline delivery into North America and beyond.

Expeditors implemented a Final Mile direct delivery and order management program using domestic gateways and the FedEx Ground network, with carton-level labeling, customs consolidation, and online tracking from origin to final delivery. The result was faster transit times, reduced inventory and customs costs, elimination of some DC reliance, and end-to-end visibility; Expeditors says the solution enabled 98% of retail stores to be reached in 4–5 days, with many deliveries arriving in 1–2 days via ground service instead of express.
