High-Tech Manufacturing Company worked with Expeditors to reduce inventory carrying costs while improving visibility across its supply chain. The customer needed an end-to-end Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) solution on the U.S. Southern Border that could manage inventory more efficiently and support cross-border fulfillment.

Expeditors implemented a VMI and Merge-In-Transit program that managed inventory from 30 vendors, consolidated shipments, captured serial numbers, and enabled final delivery through a customized, high-volume distribution process. By integrating Expeditors’ warehouse management system with the manufacturer’s SAP system, the company gained visibility into all inventories, improved forecasting and production planning, and supported just-in-time ordering with lower storage costs. The solution processed up to 2,000 orders per day and handled up to 40 truckloads daily.
