Columbus Metropolitan Library Keeps the Community Connected with Expedient’s Infrastructure as a Service and Disaster Recovery Solutions

Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML), which serves more than 650,000 cardholders across 23 locations, faced an aging in‑house production environment and an outdated, untested disaster recovery plan. After evaluating rebuild versus cloud options, CML selected Expedient for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and disaster recovery — including Expedient’s Push Button DR — to replace end‑of‑life hardware and reduce the risk of prolonged outages.

Expedient migrated CML to its cloud platform, implemented disk‑based backups with retention policies, and enabled rapid failover with Push Button DR; VMs were replicating the same day connectivity was in place and full workload restores can be completed in under 15 minutes. The Expedient solution delivered lower RTOs and RPOs, scalable storage, predictable monthly costs instead of a capital refresh, and renewed confidence that services for 650,000+ patrons remain available.
