A Exotec Case Study

Preview of the Carrefour Case Study

How Carrefour revamped micro-fulfillment in just six weeks, storing and picking more than 165,000 grocery goods within a space smaller than a school gymnasium

Carrefour, a major multinational retailer, faced a challenge with rapid e-commerce growth at its micro-fulfillment center in Reims, France. The manual operation was struggling to meet the increasing demand for same-day, error-free grocery orders while efficiently managing over 63,000 SKUs in a limited space. To address this, they partnered with vendor Exotec for an automated solution.

Exotec implemented its Skypod system, which utilizes goods-to-person robotics. The solution was installed in just six weeks with minimal disruption. This system enabled Carrefour to process over 630 order lines per hour with only two employees and store more than 165,000 items within a compact 619 m² footprint, drastically improving curbside pickup lead times and operational flexibility.
