How One Community Center Quadrupled Membership

The Shames Jewish Community Center, a 90-year-old community hub in Westchester County serving more than 4,000 people, wanted to diversify beyond its strong youth and senior programs to attract more active adults. With about 400 active members, only two part-time personal trainers, and 25 weekly group classes, the center partnered with Exos to expand fitness offerings and renovate the facility.

Exos implemented facility design and equipment selection, expanded group fitness and personal training, added a dedicated cycle studio and functional training room, and developed programming and staffing plans to deliver consistent experiences. The work by Exos helped the center quadruple membership in just over a year, add 2,400 new memberships, achieve a 97% one-year retention rate versus a 67.2% industry average, and lower the median member age to 41.
