Case Study: Colas Rail achieves safer excavation and fewer utility strikes with Exodigo

A Exodigo Case Study

Colas Rail uncovers 51 uncharted utilities with Exodigo

Colas Rail faced significant challenges during the Birmingham Eastside Metro Extension project due to unreliable utility records and multiple utility strikes. To address this, they engaged Exodigo to utilize its non-intrusive multi-sensor scanning service to map three congested urban sites and provide a clear picture of the subsurface before further excavation.

Exodigo's solution delivered a verified PAS 128 utility map that identified 208 utility lines. The scan found 51 uncharted utilities and verified depths for 136 lines, with some found 70 cm away from their recorded positions. This provided Colas Rail with the data needed to prevent future strikes, avoid redesigns and delays, and excavate with greater safety and certainty.
