A eXo Platform Case Study
UCSF sought to reduce reliance on email and improve collaboration for its Epi and Biostat department by deploying an internal enterprise social network and knowledge-management solution that supports easy onboarding via a built-in user database or external identities (LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+). To meet this need, UCSF selected eXo Platform and licensed eXo Platform Enterprise Edition while also deploying five installations of eXo’s Community Edition as the department’s internal communication platform.
eXo Platform delivered an out-of-the-box collaboration hub combining social networking with enterprise content management—features such as an enterprise wiki, document management, spaces, activity streams, notifications and mobile access—integrated with UCSF’s private infrastructure and local user database with optional third-party authentication. As a result, up to 100 users in the department now use the platform, onboarding has been smooth, article and document sharing and internal communication have improved, and UCSF is considering rolling out eXo Platform to other departments.
