The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs builds knowledge base of French diplomatic information

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs set out to build a centralized knowledge base—the Diplomacy Portal—to connect its 14,000 employees across embassies and consulates and to decompartmentalize diplomatic information. Confronted with architectural limits from a two-vendor portal/DMS setup, heterogeneous global networks and 24/7 availability requirements, the ministry chose eXo Platform’s collaboration solution to modernize correspondence, add collaborative tools, and improve knowledge sharing and user satisfaction.

eXo Platform replaced the dual-vendor stack with an integrated, adaptable open-source platform and supported a phased rollout beginning January 2017. The deployment delivered secure embassy blogs, collaborative spaces, mobile instant messaging and an integrated diplomatic correspondence app, enabling faster, secure report dissemination and inter-embassy discussion; the solution now serves 14,000 users with plans to expand to more than 50,000, and eXo Platform’s local support and ongoing upgrades have driven adoption and measurable improvements in collaboration and responsiveness.
