The Federal University of Santa Maria succeeds in offering several portals for its different scientific departments using one single platform

The Federal University of Santa Maria needed to replace a heterogeneous, hard-to-maintain set of information systems with a single, centralized platform to create, manage and share content across academic departments. They selected eXo Platform — an open-source digital collaboration and portal management solution with strong third-party integration capabilities — to provide a single entry point and standardized portal infrastructure for the university.

eXo Platform implemented a progressive, collaborative rollout including customization, templates and an add-on to integrate the university’s BonitaSoft BPM, delivering a centralized intranet that consolidated content and improved team collaboration. As a result, the university now manages four departmental portals (General Secretariat, Directorate of Information, Department of Chemistry, etc.) from one framework, has used the platform for four years (as of 2016), reduced maintenance costs and simplified content sharing — outcomes attributed to eXo Platform’s solution.
