A eXo Platform Case Study
ProEpi, the Brazilian Association of Field Epidemiology, joined forces with the UNB Situation Room to strengthen the network of professionals responding to COVID-19. Faced with fragmented communication across multiple messaging apps and difficulty tracking conversations and documents among geographically distributed students, health professionals and staff, they needed a centralized collaborative knowledge base and workflow to streamline information flow, manage operations, and share training and experiences. They selected eXo Platform.
eXo Platform provided an open‑source collaborative hub (supported via the eXo Grants Program) with customizable channels, corporate artifacts and real‑time connections to centralize documents and coordinate teams. The platform is fully integrated into the UNB Situation Room, scaling from about 150 active users in 2018 to an expected ~1,000 active users by the end of 2021, improving timely access to critical information, widening inclusion of local field epidemiologists and strengthening surveillance coordination; both ProEpi and UNB plan further feature development with eXo Platform to boost engagement.
