Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification, needed a secure extranet for its marine-sector clients to give each user easy access to ship certification data, inspection and certification calendars, regulatory updates and communications with sales representatives. To replace its IBM portal and servers the company turned to Red Hat for application servers and selected eXo Platform — an open-source community management solution with web content management capabilities — as the functional brick to build the VeriSTAR extranet.

Using eXo Platform, Bureau Veritas launched VeriSTAR, now used by 5,000 customers and sales representatives, which improved transparency, customer management and traceability across the certification process. eXo Platform’s web content management features allowed the site to evolve over time, leading to higher customer satisfaction and loyalty, increased retention, more fluid communication with the sales force, and better control over vessel certification and inspection workflows.
