Case Study: University of Caen Normandy achieves a modern, user-centered collaborative intranet and stronger staff cohesion with eXo Platform

A simple, attractive, efficient and Reliable collaborative intranet for Dynamic, spontaneous communication

The University of Caen Normandy faced an urgent need to replace a static, fragmented and vulnerable intranet that delivered mostly top‑down communication and could not be integrated with other tools. To create a modern, user‑centered collaborative intranet that fosters cohesion, proximity and easier daily work for BIATSS staff (~3,000 users), the university selected eXo Platform’s cloud collaborative intranet solution for its ease of use, scalability and project support.

Using eXo Platform, UniCaen set up a multi‑disciplinary steering group and about ten working groups to co‑design spaces, limit mandatory sites, and train administrators and hosts; spaces are being created and integrated with existing chat and document tools. With eXo Platform’s support the project moved into rollout—opening to the 3,000 users on a restricted perimeter is scheduled for early April—and the university reports improved governance, ongoing skills transfer, and a scalable, attractive intranet designed to boost engagement and long‑term adoption.
