Electricity Maps launches open-source grid alerts for Poland with Exlabs

Electricity Maps, a provider of open-source electricity data, needed a dependable source for grid outage alerts to enhance its product. They faced the challenge of finding a machine-readable data source for Poland that could scale across Europe, as existing public alerts were generic and not available via a reliable API. Exlabs was engaged to identify a solution and implement a robust integration.

Exlabs selected the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform as the best data source and engineered a Python-based connector to ingest and parse its unique ZIP/XML data format. The solution provided reliable, filtered access to active unplanned generation outages. Exlabs delivered a stable and scalable integration that was also contributed as open source, allowing the wider community to reuse it and improve data reliability across the ecosystem.
