Case Study: Frontier Silicon achieves improved WAN performance, 20–25% traffic reduction and £10k/year VoIP savings with Exinda

A Exinda Case Study

Preview of the Frontier Silicon Case Study

Global innovator reaps rewards thanks to Exinda solution

Frontier Silicon, a global pioneer in semiconductor and modular solutions for digital multimedia (serving clients such as Bang & Olufsen, Bose, Panasonic and Sony and holding about 70% market share), operates multiple international offices and a Cambridge R&D centre. As it rolled out centrally hosted backups, SharePoint and a company-wide VoIP strategy, the increased WAN traffic exposed serious performance issues—SSL acceleration, high latency and lack of QoS—that threatened backups, collaboration and the planned VoIP rollout.

Following a successful UK–Hong Kong trial, Frontier Silicon deployed Exinda appliances (4000 series in UK sites, 2000 series at global locations) to enable QoS, SSL acceleration, bandwidth scheduling and real-time monitoring. The solution has handled terabytes of central backups, cut SharePoint/SMB traffic by 20–25%, prioritized 20,000 VoIP minutes per month and delivered about £10,000 in annual VoIP savings while restoring predictable, high-performance WAN behaviour.
