A Exinda Case Study
St. Bede’s College, a 1,400‑student Roman Catholic secondary school in Mentone, Australia, needed to balance a media-rich learning environment with tighter control over student Internet use. The school faced rising incremental bandwidth charges and struggled to prevent access to inappropriate or copyrighted content and to stop students from bypassing filters with proxies or P2P apps.
St. Bede’s deployed an Exinda WAN optimization appliance (Exinda 4700) to gain visibility and granular control over traffic, block evasive HTTP/P2P activity, and allocate bandwidth by user, group or application. The policy‑based solution throttled recreational use while prioritizing critical educational and administrative apps, resulting in lower and more predictable bandwidth costs, improved application performance and greater confidence that students aren’t accessing inappropriate or illegal content.
