A Exinda Case Study
The Glennie School, a private day and boarding school for girls in Toowoomba with over 800 students and a long‑standing 1:1 notebook program, needed better visibility and control of its campus network. Heavy daytime streaming (YouTube peaks around 150 Mbps), widespread use of cloud learning apps, and the school’s requirement to limit social media during school hours exposed limitations in their firewall’s QoS and its inability to apply controls by user or group.
After trialing and deploying a virtual Exinda Network Orchestrator, the IT team gained layer‑7 application classification and AD‑based user/group policies to prioritize staff, restrict social media, and guarantee bandwidth to critical SaaS learning apps. The school now monitors users and devices, enforces time‑based policies, produces weekly usage reports for leaders, reallocates saved bandwidth to on‑premise backups, and avoids incremental hardware costs while improving application performance and student online safety.
