A Exenta Case Study
Ballin is a 63‑year‑old Montreal-based manufacturer of men’s dress slacks selling to more than 1,000 North American stores. When the Unix‑based ERP it had used since 1997 lost vendor support, Ballin needed a replacement that would preserve its established supply‑and‑demand processes, allow the company’s small development team to participate in configuration, and continue to interface with its in‑house scanning, replenishment and warehouse systems.
Ballin selected Simparel for its configurable “system dictionaries,” worked with the vendor and trained its developers to replicate existing master production scheduling, cut planning and allocation logic, then phased the rollout (ladies’ wear first) and switched over in a single weekend. The new solution eliminated file‑based point integrations in favor of real‑time interfaces, accelerated system development, caused no major business interruption, and provided an integrated, extensible platform for analytics and future growth.
