Case Study: Mi3 gains ISO 13485 compliance and improved MRP with Exel Computer Systems plc (EFACS E/8)

A Exel Computer Systems plc Case Study

Preview of the Mi3 Case Study

Mi3 Ltd makes a long-term investment with EFACS E/8

Mi3, a Blackburn-based manufacturer of disposable medical products employing over 70 people, needed to replace a failing bespoke ERP (MARSS) and spreadsheet-based stock control that could not cope with more than 10 users, 1,000+ allocated storage locations, complex kitting of sterile components or the validation and traceability demands of ISO 13485. Mi3 selected Exel Computer Systems plc and its EFACS E/8 ERP to address these operational, regulatory and inventory challenges.

Exel Computer Systems plc implemented EFACS E/8 using its Customisation Toolkit, departmental workshops, staff training and a six‑month big‑bang go‑live (May 2015), migrating MARSS data and mapping processes. The new system centralised stock data across 1,000+ locations, enabled MRP with recommended orders, improved reporting (including On‑Time‑In‑Full), added role‑based controls and bespoke sterile‑stock handling for full parts traceability, and brought Mi3 into compliance with ISO 13485—replacing an unstable Access solution with a validated, scalable platform.
