Gripple - Customer Case Study

Gripple, the Sheffield‑based manufacturer of wire joining, tensioning and suspension products, had been running an older EFACS ERP from Exel Computer Systems plc since the mid‑1990s but by 2013 had outgrown its capabilities. Facing increased international operations and needs such as multi‑company workflows, touch‑screen factory interfaces, capacity planning and BI dashboards, Gripple evaluated alternatives but chose to remain with Exel Computer Systems plc and upgrade to the vendor’s latest EFACS E/8 to minimise risk.

Exel Computer Systems plc implemented EFACS E/8 for Gripple, a project that ran about a year and went live in November 2016 after addressing extensive bespoke code and international rollout challenges. Within a year the new system delivered the expected stability and measurable improvements: manual reporting was replaced by integrated Microsoft Power BI dashboards, EDI support was enabled for key distributors, touchscreen Android devices were deployed on the factory floor to process completed works orders in real time rather than in batch, and issue resolution was faster thanks to closer familiarity with the upgraded EFACS E/8.
