Gordon Ellis & Co - Customer Case Study

Gordon Ellis & Co, a long-established manufacturer of timber windows, healthcare seating and rotationally moulded products, faced complex production challenges: highly variable order sizes, multi-step bespoke processes, unpredictable contract work and the need to optimise capacity across more than twenty primary machines while controlling WIP, scrap and rework. To address these issues the company selected EFACS E/8 from Exel Computer Systems plc as its ERP/shop-floor solution.

Exel Computer Systems plc implemented EFACS E/8 in a phased rollout covering core manufacturing, stock control, Workflow, CRM and Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC), including data migration, configured process workflows, user training and touchscreen/handheld scanning on the shop floor; the system went live in September 2012. The deployment delivered materially higher data accuracy (the company cites this as the biggest benefit 18 months on), removed legacy workarounds, enforced process steps via Workflow, provided custom reporting and real‑time SFDC visibility, and improved decision making and production control — with further gains expected as Exel’s EFACS E/8 is extended across more processes.
