Case Study: Ilmor Engineering achieves real-time component traceability and faster financials with Exel Computer Systems plc's EFACS E/8

A Exel Computer Systems plc Case Study

Preview of the Ilmor Engineering Case Study

Formula One engine manufacturer selects EFACS

Ilmor Engineering, a designer and manufacturer of high‑performance racing engines, faced complex product traceability and constantly changing bills of materials across dozens of engines (around 85 IRL engines with ~3,000 components each), long supplier lead times, and an ageing text‑based Command system that made reporting and month‑end accounting slow and error prone. To address this, Ilmor engaged Exel Computer Systems plc to replace the legacy platform with EFACS E/8.

Exel Computer Systems plc implemented EFACS E/8 as a single integrated database and rolled out Shop Floor Data Capture (SFDC) with bar‑code readers to automate process updates. Within the first month Ilmor gained real‑time, credible financial visibility (replacing a previous two‑week wait for management information), improved traceability and reduced manual data‑entry errors via SFDC, and set the stage to use EFACS E/8 planning and scheduling to better utilise machining capacity.
