A Exel Computer Systems plc Case Study

Preview of the Bartoline Case Study

Bartoline's Close Relationship with Exel Meant Upgrade was the Obvious Choice

Bartoline, a Yorkshire-based manufacturer of DIY solvents, fillers, adhesives and woodcare products, had been using Exel Computer Systems plc’s EFACS E/8 ERP system since 2001 but found its heavily customised EFACS E/8 version 8.2 installation was constraining the business. End users relied on spreadsheets, desktop databases and third‑party extensions, so Bartoline elected to upgrade to Exel’s EFACS E/8 version 8.5 to gain modern out‑of‑the‑box functionality, built‑in warehouse management and better device support.

Exel Computer Systems plc delivered a year‑long, tightly scheduled implementation—on‑site teams, workshops, configuration, conversion, user acceptance testing and a weekend data migration—bringing EFACS E/8 v8.5 live in November 2015. The new system eliminated spreadsheets and third‑party add‑ons, resolved data quality issues, tightened processes, provided WMS and handheld/touchscreen support, and gave Bartoline a single “version of the truth” with greater flexibility to meet user needs.
