How a Large Open-Source Foundation Uses Exalate to Help Drive Adoption with its Communities

The seL4 Foundation, an open-source foundation supporting a secure operating system microkernel, faced the challenge of managing a high volume of user-reported issues across over 50 public GitHub repositories while its core development team used Jira for planning and tracking. They needed to seamlessly synchronize data between these platforms without losing track of issues, using a solution that was both flexible and cost-effective. This led them to the vendor Exalate.

By implementing Exalate’s two-way synchronization tool, the foundation gained full control over its GitHub issues, seamlessly managing them all from its central Jira instance. The solution's flexibility, including the ability to write custom scripts for mapping, allowed for efficient integration without the need for a costly in-house development project. Exalate enabled the foundation to maintain integrated public data and better drive adoption within its diverse ecosystem, ultimately saving time and ensuring no issue goes stale.
