WORK Inc., New England’s largest employer of people with disabilities, faced rapidly growing data from technology initiatives that stretched nightly backups to 18 hours, ballooned tape inventories, and complicated disaster recovery. The IT team needed a disk-based solution to speed backups, reduce storage, and simplify offsite protection.

They deployed a two-site ExaGrid appliance working with Symantec Backup Exec to provide post-process deduplication and nightly replication to an offsite system. The result: dedupe ratios up to 32:1 (overall 17:1 for file storage), nightly backups cut to 10–90 minutes, weekly full backups under three hours, near-instant restores, elimination of tape hassles, and an easy-to-manage, scalable DR-ready solution.
