Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, which serves 47 school districts in four New York counties, was struggling with very long backup windows and dependence on tape—weekly full backups stretched to 40+ hours and incremental backups took about six hours nightly. The IT team needed a faster, more reliable disk-based solution and evaluated options from Data Domain and ExaGrid.

They implemented ExaGrid’s disk-based backup with post-process, zone-level deduplication alongside their CommVault Galaxy software. Backups dropped from 40 hours to 8 hours for fulls and from six hours to about 1.5 hours for incrementals, restores became nearly instantaneous, installation and scaling were simple, and they benefited from responsive, knowledgeable support.
