Vology, a leading global technology solutions provider ranked on the Inc. 5000 for six consecutive years and serving tens of thousands of customers across 80 countries, faced a backup crisis after a NAS device failed. The outage forced many jobs back to tape and exposed gaps in retention and disaster recovery: the company couldn’t keep archival history and recovery times were unacceptable.

Vology deployed an ExaGrid disk‑based backup system with post‑process data deduplication, integrating with existing backup applications (Quest vRanger and Symantec Backup Exec) and replicating to DR servers in Atlanta. The modular GRID architecture was quick to install, required minimal retraining, and reduced storage needs (ExaGrid cites 10:1 to 50:1 deduplication), enabling greater retention, faster backups and restores, improved reliability, and scalable disaster recovery without over‑provisioning.
