A ExaGrid Case Study
Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC), a Burlington-based non-profit that helps organizations reduce the economic and environmental costs of energy use, was hampered by lengthy backups that spilled into the workday, slowed the network and impacted key applications. Reliant on tape and struggling with incremental jobs that ran more than 15 hours and overall backup windows of up to three days, VEIC sought a faster, more reliable and energy-efficient approach.
VEIC deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based backup with post-process deduplication, integrated with Veeam, into a colocation center. Writing directly to disk and deduplicating afterward minimized network impact and storage needs, cutting incremental backups to 2–3 hours and reducing full backup windows to under 24 hours, while eliminating tape handling, shrinking datacenter footprint, enabling easy scalability and benefitting from responsive customer support.
