A ExaGrid Case Study
Symfodium, a Washington, D.C.–based technology consulting firm for government offices, was asked to resolve chronic backup problems for two U.S. House Democratic Leadership offices. One office relied on tape and the other on disk, and both suffered from long backup windows, limited capacity, unreliable restores and high costs—prompting a comparison of solutions that ultimately favored ExaGrid for its price/performance.
Symfodium deployed ExaGrid’s disk-based backup appliance with zone-level data deduplication integrated with Symantec Backup Exec, delivering much faster disk-to-disk backups, near-instant restores and 10:1 to 50:1 storage reduction. The system was easy to install, scalable via ExaGrid’s GRID architecture, and supported by responsive customer service—eliminating the offices’ long backup times, improving reliability and producing significant cost savings.
